LOW HOURS, TASCAM 122 MKII 3-HEAD CASSETTE DECK, SERVICED, AND READY FOR STUDIO/HOME USE
If you are new to cassettes, and are looking for a solid, reliable, cassette deck, then this is one you should be considering; it is, in my opinion, far superior to any of the "new" cassette decks that are being made today.
The Tascam 122 MKII decks were widely used by both, recording studios and radio stations, and are thought by many to be the best of all three versions of the Tascam 122 series of cassette decks, i.e. better than the MKI and MK III versions.
This particular deck is in excellent physical and operational condition. This unit appears to have had little use.
The Pitch Control has been checked and is working properly.
Physically, it is in excellent condition for its age (see pictures for details).
Operationally, the deck has been painstakingly serviced, with components replaced as required, and electronics adjusted to specifications. These decks were known to be workhorses, and this one is no exception.
FYI - a lot of time is spent on each deck that I work on, to make sure that it functions reliably before it is put up for sale. This involves a lot of time, adjusting BIAS, checking/adjusting the recording levels and frequency response as needed (for each tape type).
DETAILS
- The exterior of deck has been thoroughly cleaned, and any minor blemishes have been touched up, as required.
- Based on past experience, several electrolytic capacitors on the motherboard have been replaced, using high quality replacements, including two that we installed incorrectly from the factory.
-All solder joints have been inspected, due to age, and resoldered as needed to ensure reliable operation
-All switches have been cleaned with Deoxit to ensure reliable operation
-All potentiometers have been cleaned with Deoxit to ensure reliable operation
- The Capstan Motor has been fully Recapped, Lubricated, and speed checked/adjusted.
- NEW Idler Tyres and Heavy Duty Control Belt have been installed
- The Pitch control has been checked and is fully functional
- The Transport Mechanism has been thoroughly cleaned, with old grease removed, and new lubricant applied.
- The original, incandescent, VU meter lamps have been replaced with long life, soft-white LEDs; LEDs are brighter than the original incandescent lamps, and give the deck a fresh look.
- BIAS, Frequency Response, and REC/PB levels, for each tape type (Normal/CrO2/Metal) have been carefully adjusted to specifications.
- The deck comes complete with a copy of the User Manual, and a pair of new RCA hookup cables.
- The deck will be packed very carefully, in a new box, to help ensure that it arrives without incident.
